Kung Fu Rests at Seattle’s Lakeview Cemetery

One might not think a cemetery would be a destination point in Seattle, but the Lakeview Cemetery is the most spectacular graveyard in the city. A visit to Lake View Cemetery makes for a very interesting and unique outing; you may find that 4 hours have gone by without a blink; truly a fascinating, serene place for deep contemplation.

This historic cemetery is located just north of Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill, easily reached by foot if you’re staying at any of the luxury hotels Seattle has to offer its visitors, who a good majority just come by to see the final resting place of Bruce Lee and his son Brandon Lee. Their markers are not indicated, but if you go about half-way up, make a left and then go half-way down, their gravesite will be on you left hand side, or just look for a crowd of people standing in front of two tombs.

This is also the final resting place for many notable figures from Seattle’s past such as Nordstrom, Doc Maynard, Henry Yesler, Irving Ballard and Chief Seattle’s daughter, Princess Angeline to name a few. Located at the north end of the cemetery you will find a memorial to Japanese-American veterans of World War II. The history contained in this one cemetery will give way to many stimulating conversations, if not of the dead, then your respect for the heroes who have passed on.
